Could water-based Acrylic Paint be removed easily with finger nail polish remover?

The shelf life of acrylics is indefinite (within reason!) if the top is put back properly. It's worth trying with one colour and one of your own nails. When you use the remover, it won't necessarily dissolve the acrylic, but the acrylic part will float away on the top of the varnish, if you see what I mean.
