Is it normal to get a brownish discharge before your first period?

I just had my first period. and yesterday there was a werid brownish lumpy discharge (no is wasnt well you know poop) it was comeing from my vigina i think. I just got my 1st one over night and its clumpy and really red and then turns brownish. Is this normal?
